What is Mindfulness?

"The awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally"

Jon Kabat-Zinn

Although some professions and situations are more stressful than others, we all have moments when we feel we would like to seek refuge in an oasis of calm.

We can try to physically escape our problems and responsibilities by jumping on a plane or train, but that‘s just a temporary fix. We have to sit and deal with them, which is where mindfulness comes in.

It does take commitment, but it is a tool for life and a more permanent stress management solution. And even those of us who don’t experience stress and anxiety can see improved physical and mental health through mindfulness – and potentially beneficial ripple effects for friends and family.

Thank you Claire! It did me a lot of good – just to force myself to take time for me in a more exclusive manner. To me this has been my special moment in the week where you take the time out for yourself.

Very comprehensive and clearly delivered. The 2 areas theory & practical balanced out well. I will definitely be turning to meditation when I feel things need to be reigned in and put back on track.
